Mr Whitelaw

Mr Douglas Whitelaw is a highly skilled General Upper GI Surgeon, with a focus on laparoscopic surgical procedures. He provides his expertise both at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital and in his private practice. With extensive experience in laparoscopic cholecystectomies (removal of the gallbladder and gallstones) and staging laparoscopies, he offers a comprehensive general laparoscopic surgical service. One of Mr Whitelaw’s key roles is serving as the principal provider of the ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) service at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital. He performs approximately 260 therapeutic ERCPs annually and occasionally receives tertiary referrals for ERCP from neighbouring hospitals. He also takes an active role in training Gastroenterology SpR trainees in ERCP procedures. In addition to his expertise in ERCP, Mr Whitelaw specializes in laparoscopic hernia repairs using both TEP (Total Extraperitoneal) and TAPP (Transabdominal Preperitoneal) procedures.
