Mr. Richard J Thompson

Richard completed his medical degree at Queen’s University Belfast in 2002 and pursued surgical training in Northern Ireland. He furthered his education by obtaining an MSc in Advanced Surgical Practice from Cardiff University. Richard is a distinguished Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In 2014, Richard was granted a prestigious national surgical fellowship by the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society and the Royal College of Surgeons of England. During this fellowship, he dedicated his time to the University College London Hospital Bariatric Centre for Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery, enhancing his expertise in this specialized field. In 2016, Richard was appointed as a consultant general surgeon in the Southern Health and Social Care Trust. He has a particular interest in laparoscopic surgery, benign upper gastrointestinal surgery, and bariatrics. With his comprehensive training and experience, Richard brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to his role as a consultant, providing high-quality care to his patients in these areas of specialization.
