Mr Sillah

Mr Sillah is an accomplished consultant general and upper gastrointestinal surgeon based at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals in the West Midlands. Highly regarded by both colleagues and staff, he is known for delivering safe, compassionate, and high-quality care to all his patients. Mr Sillah is registered as a specialist with the General Medical Council (GMC). He completed his undergraduate degree at Shanghai Medical University in China and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. His postgraduate and specialist training was conducted through a structured national training program in the UK, ensuring comprehensive expertise in his field. He has acquired advanced skills in minimally invasive surgery and has gained significant experience as a consultant in Birmingham. Beyond his clinical work, Mr Sillah is deeply committed to surgical training both in the UK and West Africa. He takes on the role of “firm lead” for medical students from the University of Birmingham and Aston University during their rotations in his trust. Recognized by the GMC, he serves as an assigned Educational Supervisor for junior doctors, contributing to their professional development. Additionally, Mr Sillah plays a leading role in the Afro-European Medical Research Network, a charity group that provides free healthcare and surgical interventions to vulnerable individuals in Sierra Leone and Kenya. He actively engages in improving healthcare and training in West Africa through regional conference presentations, voluntary mentoring of trainees for their college membership examinations, and providing technical training during volunteer field expeditions in underserved communities. Mr Sillah holds memberships in prominent professional organizations, including the Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons, the British Benign Gastrointestinal Surgical Society, The Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, and the Afro-European Medical Research Network.
