Dr Bassi (MBBS, MPhil, MD, FRCP) is a highly skilled medical gastroenterologist specialising in luminal gastroenterology and therapeutic endoscopy. He completed his training in renowned units across Wales, London, and Liverpool and earned a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) degree from Liverpool University. Currently serving as the clinical director for gastroenterology at St Helens & Knowsley NHS Hospitals Trust, Dr Bassi has been a Consultant since 2005. He plays a vital role in leading gastroenterology services, with a particular focus on nutrition and lower GI services. As a member of the colorectal cancer multidisciplinary team, he is actively involved in the prevention and management of bowel cancer. His expertise extends to the management of various conditions such as diarrhoea, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, Coeliac disease, indigestion, reflux disease, and anaemia. Dr Bassi holds membership in esteemed professional organizations, including the British Society of Gastroenterology, the American Society of Gastroenterology, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is recognized as an accredited trainer for endoscopy and holds an honorary senior lecturer position at Liverpool University. Additionally, he serves as a royal college tutor at Whiston Hospital, actively contributing to medical education and training. Dr Bassi remains engaged in research, particularly in the field of pharmaco-economics, and has presented his findings at national and international conferences. At Fairfield Independent Hospital, Dr Ash Bassi provides private upper and lower GI endoscopy services, including Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, and Gastroscopy.
